Ancient Treasure | Eneolitic Stone ("Snakes of Sverdlovsk") |
This stone dating back to 3000 B.C. is a treasure of Sverdlovsk. It belongs to what is called Eneolitic Era. It was found during archeological excavations in Sverdlovsk district. You can see it as you enter the museum. Its director Ms.Tatiana Kuznetsova kindly allowed me to take several pictures of the stone. The stone is often called Snakes of Sverdlovsk. |
| The building of the museum |
| | City Museum The museum is actually not far from Peace Square where you see the Lenin monument. It is as you walk along Miriushchenko Street towards the bus terminal, the first crossing and then to your right. |
| History of coalmining exhibition |
| | History of Coalming There are several interesting exhibitions at the museum, but they are all in Russian I must say... |
| Old Sverdlosvk exhibition |
| | Old Houses This one is dedicated the the way people had to live before and after the Second World War... |
| | Village Life As the city of Sverdlovsk is responsible for all the district, the country life is also reflected in its exhibits and even in the whole hall dedicated to the life of a single village of the former Sverdlovsk District. The village name is Biriukovo. |
| | Ancient Culture I also enjoyed visiting the hall of prehistory where you see the ancient history of the district. |
| | History of the Great Patriotic War This hall is dedicated to the history of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. |
| | City Picture Gallery This is what I would call the city picture gallery. They exhibit the pictures of a local artist here. |
