A Snowy Owl at Nanton, 100 kms south of Calgary | Look at the eyes, watching you. |
Who could resist enjoying such an exceptional photo of one of Natures truly beautiful birds.
The photo was taken by a friend, A. Elliott when participating in a Christmas Bird Count in S. Alberta.
Just west of Nanton, a town south of Calgary, the Rocky Mountains continue to be seen to the west all the way south into Montana and even further south in the U.S.A.
The blue sky is typical of the clear sky often seen in this part of Canada. |

| | Is life back to normal after the 20th Olympics? Can life return to normal after an exceptional event like the Olympics, no matter if they are the Summer or Winter variety of the Games.
In the case of Calgary, I believe we still live up to the Legacy of the Games in 1988, there is continued use of the facilities put in place for 1988. The volunteer spirit still prevails in this City.
Time will tell what happens at Torino(Turin), yet I am sure that the people involved as volunteers and contestants will continue to take great pride in their achievments in February 2006.
I am fortunate to be able to show you an excellent photo of life on the slopes of Bardonecchia, just 4 weeks after the world class athletes ski ed the slopes. I am indebted to Andrea Miola for permission to display the photo. |
Small cottage in Hexham, my birthplace. I have to thank my sister for going to extreme lengths to get this photo.
All I know is from memories passed down to me as I grew uo, the family lived here for a short time, I do not recall the cottage or the garden, except that as a teenager I did venture along the lane that was the entry way to the cottage.
I do remember the next apartment, two levels, one a bedroom for 2 adults and 2 children, a main floor room, Living cum dining room,a large coal burning firplace, coals delivered through the main room and tipped into a cupboard under the stairs. The bathroom in an annexe under a sidewalk. | | | Photo taken 2006, Born here 1934. |

| | Bald eagles at home along the Bow river in Calgary Taken in the Fall of 2006, I managed to get to within about 10 metres of the base of the dead tree and took this and 3 other photos before the Eagle finally flew off looking for food. |
