3. Digital camera advice Buy a throw-away digital. My digital is 2 years old now - 3.5 megapixel. I had used a 35mm film Pentax SLR camera for 30 years. Personally I think it is still too early in camera technology to purchase your 'permanent' 35mm digital camera yet. Buy the current $200 camera - and take pictures with it for 2 or 3 years until the technology stops changing every year, then buy your 35mm digital (and give the old digital to your kid or cat).
For me Digital-camera pros: 1) digital is smaller than 35mm, 2) has many many options (more than I have memorized so far), 3) current cameras take short movies (which is cool occassionally), 4) you totally change picture-taking-habits after going digital. In a 3 week vacation, I take 500 pictures instead of the 100 I would have taken in film. 5) Digital pictures are cheaper than film (unless you print them all). I have not bothered with my 35mm since buying the digital.
Digital-camera cons: 6) When you are use to the reponsivness of film cameras, the reaction time of digitals will drive you crazy. If taking action shots, you click the button, and 20 minutes later (slight exaggeration there), the camera takes it picture. 7) Digital quality is not as good as my 35mm. 8) As has been said, instead of boxes of photos, you have CD disks of digital photos.
