"December 2005" Hardangervidda Nasjonalpark Travelogue by daarth

The beautifull mountain Hallingskarvet

Pictures were taken Desember 27, crossing the Hardangervidda on my way home after christmas at Geilo

The picture is taken at about 1pm, and the sun is at it's highest!

Another picture stop

The poles are for the snoplow to find the road in much snow. Sometimes the snow on the side can be a wall 4-5 meters high. So far this year there has been little snow on the Hardangervidda

Thanx for your message. Love your snow pictures. We are having snow and lots of rain here. But not in Auckland. We had a mini VT meeting at Devonport for my birthday but NO ferry ride !

I got lost and nearly died here, looking for long-tailed skuas. I saw my first dotterels here though and then i saw them again where they go in winter: Bahrain.

The Hadangervidda is a magical place to wander. The DNT huts are a great way to wander the countryside. The road is a great way to introduce yourself to the wonders up here, as you rightly point out!
