Travel Tips

I met Brian and Elizabeth in the Shetland Isles. They hail from Perthshire, Scotland. They have a phenomenal knowlege of plants and animals and were a wonderful addition to our little group of 6 people on a tour with Shetland Wildlife. They have far more energy that I have - you should have seen them covering the ground and hiking up those slopes. The three of us then went to Fair Isle but Brian and Elizabeth stayed for only a few days before returning home and I stayed an entire week. We kept in touch and I was graced with an invitation to visit them on my 2005 journey through Scotland. I spent four wonderful days with them and they took me to numerous wonderful places in the Perth and Dundee areas. This picture was taken at Dunkeld cathedral.

I met Don and Sharon (from Canada) who were staying at the same B&B in Giverny France. They kindly asked me to join them when they went to visit Monet's Garden and also asked me to join them for dinner that night. It was very kind of them and I really enjoyed the company. Here they are at Monet's Garden. Don's camera made a "meow" sound instead of a beep - it sounded like a real cat and since I love cats, I kept looking around and kept Don amused!

I finally made it to Paris in June 2006. Another VT'er, Nygaston, who had helped me plan my trip, graciously met up with us the first day, took us to a wonderful "tea" at Lauderon, and walked us throughout the neighborhood where we had rented an apartment. It was so wonderful of Tom to do this - he showed us an Internet Cafe with American keyboards, the best wine shops, good restaurants, grocery stores etc. Another day, he walked with us around the Champs Elysees.
