Kitesurfing Castricum beach

The climate in Holland is not always suitable for tanning on the beach. But there are so many other activities you can do. The wind would like to play with you, go: kitesurfing, windsurfing or play with kites.

A run or walk along the beach is one of my favourite activities.

The Dunes protect our country against the sea. A large part of the Netherlands is below sealevel. It's a rather harsh natural landscape, because not many plants can cope with the salt and winds from the sea.

Many dune-areas are open for walking. So if you have seen enough of the beach, and don't want to walk back the same way, choose a path into the dunes.
