A beautiful building. | Railway Museum, Utrecht, Holland. |
This is the old Maliebaan Station, which provides the entrance to the Spoorwegmuseum (Railway Museum). In itself, it would make a great museum, and has been beautifully restored, as you can see. |
| Post wagon, Railway Museum, Utrecht, Holland. |
| | First class delivery. This photo shows the interior of an old post sorting wagon (now all scrapped). As you stand in it, it rocks slightly and there are appropriate noises, so you really would think you were rattling along through the night sorting the post for the good people of Holland. Very evocative. |
How do you drive this thing? This is the footplate of the Longmoor which was the 1000th locomotive built in Britain and shipped to mainland Europe after D-Day in the Second World War. Standing here you really get a feel for what it must have been like to drive a brute like this. | | | Footplate, Railway Museum, Utrecht, Holland. |

| Rolling stock, Railway Museum, Utrecht, Holland. |
| | A view from on high. In the Museum, there is an elevated walkway, from where you can view the whole shed. These are just some of the many exhibits. |
A thing of beauty. I just love this particular train. I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough, and i stupidly didn't take any notes, but I believe this comes from the early part of the 20th century. The coachwork is just superb. | | | Rolling stock, Railway Museum, Utrecht, Holland. |

| Turntable, Railway Museum, Utrecht, Holland. |
| | But I want to go that way. There is much to see outside the main exhibition hall, and this is just one part of it. It is the turntable, complete with an old shunting locomotive. I don't know if it still functions or not but I'd love to see it in action. |
So that's how it works. This is a view of a locomotive that you'll rarely see unless you're an engineer. One of the locos is raised up so you can see the workings of it, and fascintaing it is. I suspect that in operation it would be a lot dirtier than this! | | | Loco workings, Railway Museum, Utrecht, Holland. |

| | Another lovely thing. I really have no idea about the history of this one, I just thought it looked really impressive. |
