February, a week at the Canary Islands | Me, being happy in San Augustin. |
The trips in 2005 started well with a, quite sunny at least, vacation at San Augustin, Gran Canaria. As you see, I was happy most of the time... |
| My dear babysister playing air hockey. |
| | We had a lot of fun, best shown of my sister's figthing face while we were playing air hockey. Probably one of the funniest games ever. Yes, it helped that I won all the games... ;) Other memories is the luxury hotel (although a bit too expensive), unfortunately the rainy days and the dead center of the city, which didn't stop us from having a few beers. |
March, a VT-visit from Los Angeles After working my ass off at a new newspaper in Borĺs in March I got a very nice visit from a VT-person, Kassy, at the end of the month. We spent some great days together, first visiting Stockholm. Stayed at a very nice pensionat in the central parts of the town, looking at and visiting as many places as possible during our stay there. Best was maybe the visit at Skansen, there really is something special with animals. Very cosy in the Swedish capital, with a lot of snow and ice between the islands.
I really enjoyed her company, and we had a lot of fun! | | |
| Sunset in Varberg with Kassy. |
| | We also spent four days in the south of Sweden, at what in Sweden is called "Bästkusten" (the best of coasts). Really fun in Gothenburg, but the trip to the castel in Varberg, with this sunset, was definately something special. |
April, a month in Italy Being a sport journalist is almost always great! In April it definately was so... Thanks to some kind of scholarship I could go to Italy for a whole month, writing a big article about the economy in the italian football.
And, of course, there were time for both football, beers and girls... :)
On the photo, one of the late nights in Florence... At that time of the night we have come to Loch Ness, a quite special night club. Have a look at the drinklist behind us. Anyone wants a blow job...? :D That photo was taken at ten past four in the morning... Less than five hours later I was on a train to Rome.
Still don't know how I managed to get up, and get on that?
The guys beside me are three Swedish friends, Marcus, Ola and Mikael. | | | Marcus, me, Ola and Mikael, at 4.11 am. |

| Christofer Columbus' home in Genova. |
| | Most of the time I stayed in Milano, but there were also two visits in Florence, twice in Rome, twice in Torino, and also three days in Genoa. A city that I like a lot, and definately recommend for a visit!
There I met up with my two italian friends Andrea and Graziella, who showed me around in the city.
Among other things I visited the said birth house of Christofer Columbus, and where he also was raised. To be honest the house itself wasn't much to write home about, but it's still nice to have been there.
This photo is one of the last ones I took with the digital camera during the trip, since I shortly after dropped it onto the ground from a tower... Not sure if I should blame it on unluck, or the limoncello that Andrea's mum had given me to lunch...?
Sadly enough there are no digital photos from the rest of the trip anyway, which meant that I had to use a "use-one-time"-camera when I was in Napoli and Pompeii...
Amazing places anyway, and all the negative things I had heard about southern italians showed to be wrong. More friendly people it's hard to find.
Pompeii was also something amazing, and the only thing I regret is that I didn't stay there longer than 5-6 hours. So much to see, so much to explore, so much to think about. |
May, back to Stockholm In May I got a new work for the biggest Swedish newspaper, and therefore went to Stockholm for 13 days. 11 days when I worked my ass off, and two days when I... eh... drank my ass off... :)
My dear friends Jesper and Zian took me to Café Opera, one of the hottest clubs in the city. Wasn't really dressed for the evening, since I went out only for a beer at the local pub in the beginning, but it sure was fun anyway!
Should have guessed though... Two days earlier Jesper had met me up for a beer and some food, which ended in a huge birthday dinner at restaurant Eden, a really fancy one with fantastic views over the Old Town and the water.
Thanks Jesper... Next time you maybe can tell me to dress up a bit...? ;) | | | Me and Jesper at Café Opera |
|
| | Around five o clock in the morning I got back home from Café Opera, and was met by this view from the appartment window... Nice! Took three quick photos, fell into bed, and then my friend who had the appartment woke me up 4 hours later for a re-union with some student-friends... I was... just a bit tired...
Got to work at three, feeling just a tiny bit "the day after"... Around seven I could start working for real again... |
