| Taxis waiting and people getting off |
We went up for breakfast about 8:15. There was hardly any food left on the buffet. It was humid, hot and clear. The Royal Caribbean ship Empress of the Seas was in front of us and the Volendam was behind us - both bigger ships. After breakfast, I took some pictures from the deck of the taxis lined up on the pier |
| Ambulance at the Volendam |
They were taking someone off the Volendam in an ambulance. We found out that our trivia partner had some pain in his side last night, so he went to the ship doctor who diagnosed a kidney stone and wanted him to go to the hospital here for an ultra sound, but he said he'd rather wait. He was OK for the rest of the cruise. |
We got off the boat about 9:30, and walked up to the Paradise Point Skyride. I saw a tram type thing that offered free rides between the Skyride and the shopping area at Havensight. But I didn't find out about it in time to actually ride it, so we walked. |
The fare is $16 @ and I don't know whether it was worth it, but it was something I wanted to do. There are 3 cars and they each take 8 people. They have a kind of bench that you can lean against but is too high and too narrow to sit. We were in the middle car, and it was very hot and also hard to take pictures from the middle one |
They wouldn't let you walk up, but they would let you walk down. We saw the path below us. |
| Bob's picture from the top |
From the top, we could see not only Charlotte Amalie and French Town, but Water Island, Flamingo Bay and the airport. There was a bird show up at the top, and also you got a free drink. Bob climbed up to the top and took some pictures, but we didn't stay for the bird show nor did we get the drink. Our boat between the two bigger boats was like the filling in a sandwich. |
| Passing cars going in the other direction |
I got into the first car to go down without the guy helping as he was still helping people out at the top - the cars don't stop at the top or bottom so you have to get off while they are still moving. He ran over just as we were going off the edge because he wanted our tickets. He was a rasta - you can tell because they tie all their hair up in big cone shaped woolen caps. Next - visit to Coral World |
