Floating attractions of Nieuwegein

Petrol ship
Because Nieuwegein is at the crossroads of rivers and canals, there are many opportunities to see larger and smaller riverboats. In Vreeswijk you can find several historic ships, maintained by enthusiastic volunteers. At the larger Rivers around Nieuwegein and in the Locks 'Beatrixsluizen' you can see today’s large vessels carrying cargo.
Nieuwegein also has a large number of houseboats, of which I might add some pictures later.

 Oh, C'mon - it can't be that bad. The canals and the ships look very interesting and contemporary Dutch architecture is considered to be one of Europe's best at the moment.
