A little more about me

by Dabs - last update: Jun 24, 2006

I always enjoy reading about people's likes and dislikes so I thought I'd add a little

Things that I love:

*my husband, he's a saint for having put up with me all these years!!!
*the sound of a cat purring and the soft fur on their belly
*taking my dog for a walk
*loyal friends who are there even when you're having a rough go of it
*Pizza-deep dish, stuffed, thin crust-it's all good!
*Chocolate-Belgian is especially nice, especially the white ones
*Movies, I watch at least a couple every week
* Books, I have shelves and shelves of them
*Traveling (OK, that one is pretty obvious!)
*Pez dispensers
*Crossword puzzles
*British accents
* Wallace & Gromit
*Kinder egg toys
*Art Deco architecture
*Arts & crafts furniture
*Reading the Sunday newspaper
*Matthew Sweet
*flowers
*anything banana or pumpkin flavored
Things that I hate:

*People who cut in line, especially in construction zones on the highway!
*People who call you only when they need something
*People who prey on weaker people, seems like there is a new scam everyday
*Green vegetables except salad
*Status symbols
*Snakes, actually pathologically afraid of them, and they sense my fear
*Pennies, just get rid of them already!
*Wearing shoes
*Women who wear too much perfume
*Country music
*People too lazy to use punctuation or capital letters
*Coffee or anything flavored with coffee-blech!
*Movies with Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler or Rob Schneider
*Jennifer Lopez
*yellow mustard
*dust, where the h*ll does it come from and how does it multiple so fast???
*I just can't wear the color orange
Beware!! See what happens when I go in the kitchen

Other random information

*I always thought my birthday was cool, multiply the day by the month and you get the year. And I never have to worry if the day or month comes first when I'm filling out forms. Well, I think it's cool.....

* I haven't cooked a real meal (oh, who am I kidding, pouring a bowl of cereal is as close to cooking as I get!) in the last 15 or so years, my husband is an excellent cook and I'm very, very spoiled

*haven't worn a watch or used an alarm clock, except on vacation, since I quit my big corporate job and started working for my husband. Excellent perks, like unlimited vacation time, sleeping until I feel like getting up and let's not forget, sleeping with the boss ;-)

* Band I would have loved to see live-Queen (Paul Rodgers, what are you blokes thinking?)

*have only paid more than $100 for a hotel room in 2 cities-New Orleans during French Quarter Fest and NYC in December. Thanks heavens for Priceline!

* I've lived in 4 states-California, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana

*Grew up in a small family, 1 brother, 2 parents, married into a large family with 6 kids and now with 8 grandkids, makes for very large holiday gatherings

*Best vacation would have to be the three weeks we spent in Australia and New Zealand

Some of my favorite movies

*Gone with the Wind, cast perfectly, can you imgaine anyone else playing Scarlett or Rhett or Melly or Ashley....
*Wizard of Oz-"there's no place like home!"
*It's a Wonderful Life, a Christmas classic
*Monty Python and the Holy Grail, killer rabbits? Brilliant!
*Gallipolli, besides a very hot young Mel Gibson, one of the most moving war films ever made
*anything with Ralph Fiennes, well, except that horrid piece of trash he made with Jennifer Lopez
*or Orlando Bloom, so far he's done no wrong
*Shakespeare in Love
*The Full Monty, I laughed so hard that I was crying
*Sixth Sense
*Dead Again
*LA Confidential
*Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
*Emma
*Pride & Prejudice (the Colin Firth version)

Some of my favorite books

*Wuthering Heights-my all time favorite
*Rebecca
*To Kill a Mockingbird
* A Tale of Two Cities
*In Cold Blood
*Fahrenheit 451
*anything by Jane Austen or Edith Wharton
*Dracula
*Devil in the White City
*Bonfire of the Vanities
*Bill Bryson travelogues
*Phillipa Gregory's books-The Other Boleyn Girl, the Queen's Fool

Favorite "mindless" beach reads
*Harry Potter series
*Anne Perry mysteries

Favorite books from my childhood
*Chronicles of Narnia
*Oz books by Frank Baum
*Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
*Little Women et al by Louisa May Alcott

No I don't! And I'm off to England in about 3 hours. Tomorrow is a holiday in Canada! :D ...For government workers at least.

Maybe the poster to your forum question just had a bad day. I'm bringing a co-worker with me as Sue is working that day.

Glad to hear that the weather looks pretty good for next weekend. I may be coat-less at Tre Kronor! (I wonder if they have a patio so we can eat our lingonberry pancakes outdoors?)
