The Fridge Society. VT's COOLEST Subsociety.

by Trillian2005 - last update: Sep 15, 2009

May the Fridge be with you. Olga külmiku sinuga!

My fridge with add-on microwave

The Fridge Society is VT's coolest subgroup.

As of March 1, 2007, King Golo, former self-appointed King and President of the Fridge Society has peacefully resigned at -28 °C and declared his kingdom a post-modern socialist entity.

Since I lived in many places, I've seen many weird faces and also owned a large number of large and small fridges. My current fridge has an add-on Alaska microwave, the perfect equipment for hot and cold weather.

The Fridge Society consists of the following comrades:
- King_Golo (Golo): Self-Appointed Comrade Hugolo Chavez II
- Trillian2005 (Gabrielle): Comrade Chi Tri and Fridge Historian
- haiamisa (Sirpa): Comrade Sir Pa and Fridge Minister
- NiceLife (Andrew): Comrade _ice Correspondent
- themajor (ah, now that would be telling!): Comrade Major
- Anchovy56 (David): Comrade Frozen Fisherman in da Hood
- Skywalkerbeth (Beth): Comrade Beth in the Sky with Ice-Cubes
- aaaarrgh (Sean): Comrade Frozen Food Architect
- Tinci (Tina): Comrade Fridge Magnet Representative
- Jefie (Isa) Comrade Icicle Specialist
- CesVT (Cécile): Comrade Iceflower Expert
- Manara (Anna Maria): Comrade Ice-Cream Semiologist

New members welcome! Just nominate yourself and inform Comrade Golo or Comrade Trillian2005.
Warning: The Fridge Society does not hold elections but reserves the right to reject uncool participants. Democracy is not guaranteed. This is a revolutionary society. Free ice for everybody!

Happy chillin' and may the fridge be with you!
- Olga Külmiku Sinuga! (Estonian - the official Fridge Society Language)
- She hamekarer ihiye itcha! (Hebrew)
- Olkoon jääkaappi sinun kanssasi! (Finnish)
- Der kühlschrank sei mit euch! (German)
- Le frigo soit avec vous! (French)
- il frigo sia con voi! (Italian)
Historical Photo of Comrade Fridge Historian

History

The Fridge Society started out as a random fridge exhibition by Comrade Denise (who has left us to start another revolution elsewhere) and Comrade David, then I (Comrade Fridge Historian) joined an ice age later. The society turned into the official Fridge Society when Comrade Golo, formerly King Golo and self-appointed President, came into power via a rather electric and calorifying coup d'etat (or cup de café) on January 20, 2006. And the rest is history.

Legal Mumbo Jumbo:
The Fridge Society is neither recognized by The International Syndicate of Coffee Yogurt nor by the Prime Minister of Antarctica, and they have therefore issued a referendum to boycott frozen food. The EU, the UN, the Association of Unassociated Terrestrial Nations as well as the Polarbears-against-Permafrost Party have agreed to wait until summer to make a democratic decision on an ice-floe, or to keep the refrigerator doors closed.

As a bonus ice-cube, I'd like to share a historical school photo that is on public display on my fridge's freezer compartment door. Can you find me in this photo? If so, you'll win a home-made ice-cube!

To My Fridge's Content

On March 4, 1958 the first fridge opened its door in Antarctica. To commemorate this historical event, we're going to have a big fridge party and share one coffee yogurt.

Caution: be sure to be appropriately dressed for subzero temperatures. Wear at least one Iceland sweater, a warm scarf and gloves, and enter at your own risk.

Recipe for Colorful Ice Cubes

On popular request I would like to share my unique recipe for colorful ice cubes with The Fridge Society .

* * *
Ingredients:
- Water (from anywhere, unless the ice cubes are intended for drinks)
- Plastic ice cube tray(s)
- Freezer, or freezer compartment
- Water colors
- Food coloring (for drinks)
- Several glasses, plastic/paper cups

Method:
1. Pour water (from anywhere, for ice cube throwing only, or from tap/mineral
watter bottle for drinks) into several glasses or plastic/paper cups and mix
with your favorite water colors, or food coloring (for drinks).
2. Add the colorful water mixture to the plastic ice cube tray(s) and freeze in the
freezer until frozen.
3. Remove colorful ice cubes from plastic tray(s). Don't use hammers, drills, or other sharp objects, this may cause damage to plastic tray and/or ice cubes.
4. Toss ice cubes into your favorite drink or throw at your favorite friends. Great fun! People will love you for it, guaranteed! (Or your money back*).

* Warranty includes water from anywhere only. Warranty does not extend to bottled water, freezer, plastic trays, glasses, plastic/paper cups, and water colors/food coloring.

Chilling New Suspense Mystery

I.C. Avalanches: LOST IN SNOW

Chapter 1:
It was a day in early January, early in the morning, the temperature had dropped way below sub-zero, when Isa Berg, her giant Zanussi fridge, and her 653 huskies set out on their sledge to the closest ice-cream shop. After a 4-month journey they realized that...

The End.

Synopsis: Interesting beginning, but the story loses momentum and ends in inertia. Entertaining enough to freeze your smile in three languages. Despite of the novel's length, it is slightly underpriced and somewhat overrated. Great poolside reading for chilling out on a hot summer day.

Now a major motion picture in a fridge near you. The entire movie was filmed on location in Beer Sheva. Directed by Carmen Sandiego and Kokki Yrjö Mämmi.

Comrade Ice

We would like to thank...

all the Fridge Society comrades for their heartwarming support and ice supply throughout the convention. We hope to see you all again at the next First International Fridge Society Convention in Greenland, Antarctica, or Vantaa, Finland (the exact location has yet to be cleared from snow and ice) in August 2026. Bring chilled champagne, please!

Comrades, listen to the hot Fridge Society anthem here: "Refrigerator Dreamin’"

My fridge is coldly gleamin'
While I'm traveling in May
Refrigerator dreamin'
on such a springtime day.
