Reflections on the Past

Tuol Sleng Museum: Cambodia

Faces
Located at the Corner of Street 113 and Street 350 in the countries captial. Tuol Sleng was the torture and bebrief centre of many victims of the Khmer Rouge before they where sent to the Killing Fields. This is a well presented museum that shows the horrors of genocide. Thought out it is informative and well laid out... I was moved to silence as I walked thru..
Choeung Ek

Killing Fields of Cambodia

I can only describe the place a sober reminder of the evil that has and does happen even to this day in the world. The Killing Fields are well presented, and laid out in a plain and simple way to remember the dead. It has respect for those who has perished at the hands of the Khmer Rouge. I must admit that it left me feeling numb and profoundly moved. The fact that around 17,000 men, women and children died here from the year 1975 to 1978 is quite horrific. This place is a must to visit, because it happened and those whom died need to be remembered, and so they'll really be forgotten like their murderers want wanted them to be....
Silent, but Loud

Concentration Camp Jasenovac in Croatia

I was trying to get back into Bosnia during a long and hard drive. I checked the map and my co-driver concured that their was an open border crossing in a place called Jasenovac or near to it. I drove up towards this place it was unkeep and in ruins due to the civil war. I stopped for a moment and pondered this wierd place and moved on.. I noticed that there was a monument, and I decided to research the history; well I wish I didn't, but I did.

Concentration Camp Auschwitz

No doubt you'd be familiar with the name Auschwitz. This former Nazi concentration camp is situated an hour or two from Krakow and is now the site of a museum detailing the atrocities committed at Auschwitz.

The camp was liberated by the Soviet Red Army in 1945 and the main entrance, railway and gas chambers all remain in the same condition as the Russians found them in.

There are several museums located on the site , and despite being a harrowing experience Auschwitz is an essential stop. If nothing has moved you before then this will. I was dumb struck as I wondered into the various museums that dealt with the different regions, and people the Nazis deported to this camp of death
