Travel Tips

After the park area, you travel on to North Hilo through a series of windy and nasty road. The view of Mauna Loa is worth stopping for as I caught this nice shot from its side.

Here's a better shot of Mauna Kea through the rocky moon like fields you will come to know and love.

Here's one of those red spiders I spoke about. Cinder cones dashed with red and green makes you feel all wintery inside! You can hike up this one and look out from the top.

Saddle's not known for landslides but here's one that occured recently. It was a part of a trailed area but caved in. Wonder if anyone still goes up top there.

Here leads the road to the top of Mauna Kea and to the ski area!

Midway through the saddle, you'll find a small park in the cinder cone. Across of that you'll find the access road.

I don't exactly know what that is, all I know is that it wasn't there before. It looks like a weather station.
