The wonderful world of music I share three great passions in this world; travelling, football (soccer to the yanks) and music. Call me fickle if you like, but apart from the people I love and care for, these three things are what bring me most joy!
As far as music goes, it is one of the greatest tools to change or enhance a mood, andofcourse people's tastes in music will reflect this. My music tastes are probably an accurate reflection on me in this sense, as just like my mood and personality it is pretty broad. However, there are of course those artists who mean a particular amount to me: The Beatles Fugazi Madness Deftones The Clash Dead Kennedys |
| | The uplifting World Of Ska When asked to define my favourite genre it's a pretty tough call. I go through mini phases of listening to a little more of one sort for a while- say punk for example, and then I go through an indie rock phase. If really pushed though, I'd have to say it is ska/ ska punk. The way the music lifts you so dramatically is immense. And what ever your taste, how can anyone hold up their hands and say that they dislike a band like Madness or The Specials?? I mean how could ya?
Like most with most styles of music, there are sub genres to be found within. I listen to quite a lot of the classic, original ska and enjoy it. My favourite sub is the two tone movement though, as the attitude as well as the music was such a positive ideal. Lately, the more popular style is 'ska punk,' a mainly americanisedstyle, which attempts to combine the raw sound of punk music, with the morale lifting horns of ska! Bands of this style who I'm in to are Less Than Jake, Spunge and Reel Big Fish to name a few. |
