The Amateur Cook

by Yijie - last update: Sep 22, 2005

Dark soy sauce wings
Here are some pictures of the food that I cooked during a year’s stay overseas. Some are familiar home dishes while others are just experimental ideas. Cooking can be quite fun and satisfying. But I probably won’t be doing much cooking when I get back to Singapore, until I have my own kitchen. ^_^

What is this?

Tea, spices and lots of garlic is used to season the soup and the choice of meat is usually pork with bones. You can buy pre-packaged seasoning packs in supermarkets, that's the type I used to make my soup. It makes a good dish in winter.
Bah Kut Teh
Pork with ginger slices
Prawns cooked with onions and tomatoes
T-B: Onion prawns, Chilli prawns, Mixed vegetables

A basic necessity

You won't miss this anywhere in Singapore. There will have at least a food stall selling it in any local eating place such as hawker centres, food courts and coffee-shops. Mine is a poor version of the real stuff.
Dried chilli noodles
Chicken linguini alio olio
Tagliatelle with rosette
