Furry and Fun part 2

by bluebug - last update: Sep 5, 2007

Jake hogging the A/C in Arizona
funny kitties of Korcula
Another Croatian kitty
Baby donkey in Oatman
Big cat in Bosul
This big kitty was actually a picture I took at the zoo in Bosul. Normally I hate going to zoos because I cry when I see how miserable the animals are. However there is the Bronx Zoo in New York which I think is great because they give the animals plenty of room to roam and the habitats are indenticle to theirs in the wild. The animals look very happy and it's a great feeling going there.and the money they make goes towards really great causes for animals. It was suggested that I go to this particular zoo in Bosul by a local. I figured that since Switzerland is such a wealthy and progressive country that this zoo would be a great experience like the one in the Bronx. BOO! and wrong, wrong, wrong. It was dirty, the animals seemd to be cramped and totally unhappy. The lions were placed in a dirt yard with apartment complexes on the otherside. The condor had hardly enough room to spread out it's 14ft wing span, and the rhinos were resting on woodchips and seemed unhappy while all the loud noise ofconstruction was going on less then 20ft away from them. We left almost immediatly. Don't support these money makers!

GG Park Squirrels.

These fat little boogers are well trained to keep you feeding them (unsalted) peanuts. If you're a big animal lover ( like me) they'll have you wrapped around their chubby little fingers. They are so cute and seem totally domesticated. They'll jump on your lap and hang out on your shoulder and eat right out of your hand. Some will even let you pet them while they're gnawing on a nut. It's hard to resist all the attention you get from them. So bring a bag of plain peanuts to the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park next time you're in SF, and feel the squirell love.
