| Summer Squash on Bench by Kitchen Door. |
I went walking around my yard and barn today....it is Labor Day weekend and summer is coming to a close.
The color and textures all around me captured my attention and I wanted to share it with you...those who are new to my home page...and to those who are old friends. ....... Hope you enjoy it. And Happy Fall.
THESE SUMMER SQUASH WERE SITTING ON A BENCH OUTSIDE MY KITCHEN DOOR....THE PURPLE RED AND BRIGHT YELLOW POPPED OUT AT ME! |
| Tomatoes from garden ripening in the sun on table |
| | Likewise....tomatoes ripening in the sun. Tomorrow night's supper....tomatoes from the garden ripening in the sun on the picnic table outside the kitchen door on the patio.
The colors are great!!!! |
| | Pumpkin on the vine in the garden. My grandson Anderson planted this pumpkin patch.....it is his garden project, he has been gardening since he was three....he loves it.
After the pumpkins are ready to pick.....we gather them in his old wagon...and then pull the wagon around the neighborhood and give them to the neighbors. The kids love it when they can pick the one they want.
It teaches Anderson who is now five, how to watch his work grow...and find the pleasure of giving it away. |
| Barn Doors...Upstate NY style. |
| | Red Barn Door...add to Rustic Charm!! Barn Red is a classic and the unique design of the barn doors are typical of Upstate New York farms. |
| Golden Rod....natures beauty and curse. |
| | This is a lovely field of the pretty yellow bloom of Golden Rod......most folk blame Golden Rod for their allergy flare-ups.....but I have heard it is really the Rag-Weed that also blooms at the same time that really causes the trouble.
Anyway......it is a nice last Hurrah for color at the end of the summer and the beginning of Fall. |
| | It's hard to believe that this old buggy was a main means of transportation when the folks that first lived here had to go to church, school or town.
Now..............if we could only get it back to working again.........Feeding a horse must be cheaper than today's gasoline by the gallon. |
| | I love stone......anykind of stone......especially stone fences and stone houses.
This is an old Adirondack style urn made of stone on the step of my front porch with the last of the summer geraniums. |
| My garden shed....was old forge for horseshoeing. |
| | Great old out building...my garden shed. This great old building was once an old forge for horseshoeing the horses on the farm.......now it is my garden shed. However, it is ready to fall down.
HAVE A GREAT FALL. STAY CLOSE TO HOME......SAVE GAS......ENJOY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. |
