A shot Rob took of me when I didn't even know it Our photographer, who is a neighbor, friend and one heckuva neat guy, was really great at blending in and 'disappearing' so he could get some seriously cool candid shots. When we got our picture disc back, we were floored as we scrolled through them to see how many interesting, neat pictures he snapped of us, the kids, our guests... without us even knowing it. I've seen some of his photos on his website of other brides, with a similar shot like this one... the detailing of the back of the gown. I always thought that was so cool. I wanted shots of the back of my dress because it was so unique... I didn't even have to ask him... he just knew. I was 'somewhere' in the Stube Room during our reception when he took this. |
Taylor's half-brother, Brian... a real cutie!!! Taylor's mom and half-siblings (they have the same momma but different dad... Taylor is Jeff's one-n-only) attended the wedding & reception. It was great fun. Rob snapped this shot of Brian as he was blowing bubbles. The kids loved those bubbles! I bought the "gown-safe" bubbles from TheKnot.com... got about 80 little bell-shaped bottles for around $10. I tied wine colored ribbons on the top and put smiley-face stickers on the bottom. Meghan & Kristen (Jeff's nieces) and Sami (my niece) made sure that all the kids got some bubbles at the church, as a little gift to keep them busy! Brian is such a hoot... check out the Spiderman face on his cheek that JoAn did for him. |
Hofbrauhaus Rule: No outside food allowed in! One of the rules of the Hofbrauhaus was, no outside food or drink allowed brought in. It was actually a great rule, because, I got to craft a "fake cake" using the heart-shaped pans I'd bought (I was going to bake our wedding cake myself, but instead we had to go to plan B)... Plan B consisted of me covering the 2 tiers of cake pans with silk printing paper (available at Staples), ivory rose petals, porcelain mini-roses & pearls, and finally, a layer of tightly-stitched tulle to cover the rose petals. We told the Drindl-wearing gals at the Hofbrauhaus to set 2 Bavarian Cream Puffs on top (our two chosen desserts from the lunch menu were the puffs and apple Strudel!). She stuck an Irish flag in one; and a German flag in the other. I got the flags from some place online, for like $1.00 each? I got the idea for the "Guiness Bride" and the "Warsteiner Groom" from a site on Webshots, showing a similar set up using Bud for the Groom and Bud Light for the Bride. Since I totally despise cheap American beer and prefer REAL beer, and I wanted to show off our heritage (Ireland for me; Germany for Jeff), this was a great way to do it! So; our lovely wedding cake had some great personality and a whole lotta craftyness! The cake is now puff-less and propped up in our dining room behind some glass. The beer bottles are on a shelf in our family room with a framed print of Jeff and me from the reception. The flags; sticking out of an empty wine bottle which I drank during the week before the wedding, to calm myself down... =-) |
| "Step Window" comment hits home! |
Our crazy-laughing faces after Mark's TOAST! The Best Man's toast was superb. You can tell Mark took some great care in composing this for Jeff. (Jeff and Mark have an inside joke where they call pretty girls "Windows". Also, one of our favorite movies is The Princess Bride... hence the reference to a "nice MLT")... here's the speech! ~~~ "Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Mark C, I am the best man." "First off, I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend today’s celebration. I would also like to personally thank Jeff & Stephanie for having the wedding SO early. They know how much I love getting up early on Saturday mornings. Actually, I would probably be rolling out of bed right about now. As I understand it, the wedding had to be early in order to have the reception here. I must admit this is a very cool place for a wedding reception." "As the best man it is not only an honor and a privilege, but it is my duty to do my best to give Jeff the most uncomfortable five minutes of his life. For the record, the most uncomfortable five minutes of Stephanie’s life will be coming later on this evening, courtesy of Jeff. Or would that be more like a minute and a half?" "What can you say about a man who is smart, funny, and pretty darn handsome, even if I do say so myself? A great friend who is always available when you need him and will do anything he can to help you out? Well, that's enough about me. I'm here to talk about Jeff." "So here we are now, Jeff and Stephanie are finally married, for better or worse, which is rather appropriate since Jeff couldn’t have done any better and Stephanie couldn’t have done any worse." "Now, there are plenty of embarrassing stories about Jeff I have collected over the years for an event such as this. I won’t be repeating any of these stories today, mainly because of the hefty bribe Jeff promised me before the ceremony this morning. Stephanie, I bet you didn’t know I am going to Cancun with guys, did you?" "Actually, I couldn’t be happier for both of you. After all you’ve both been through you truly deserve the happiness and true love you find in each other. True love is the greatest thing in the world, except for a nice MLT. I am impressed that you found your true love, your perfect woman. Not only does she compliment you perfectly, she is the perfect step window for your son Taylor." "Everyone please raise your glass in a toast to the newly wedded couple." "To Jeff and Stephanie, may all your ups and downs be between the sheets." |
| Butterfly Girl stares at Dragonfly Bride |
Blue Butterflies on Emmy JoAn was very, very, very, very busy at our reception. We hired her to give our reception a very "Oktoberfest" kinda feel, and boy was she a hit! (She also was hired on the spot by my boss, for a St. Patrick's Day a month later!) Emmy loves blue, and loves butterflies as much as I love dragonflies. So she got a few of the fluttery bugs painted on her face. She was looking up at me in this photo, as I was looking at Carrie during Carrie's Maid of Honor speech. Very candid, very cute! |
Bavarian Cream Puff smashed on the lips ... we planned on opening up the Cream Puffs and smashing it on each other's mouths... instead we just sorta tore a piece off and fed it to each other. We heard a collective "Aaahhhh" in disappointment... sooo.... ... I took a bunch of the cream and smeared it on my lips, for Jeff to lick off. We kissed and he took care of the excess cream. Very cool! |
A co-worker's son with his 'wishing beanies' Of the 110 who attended our reception, about 30 of them were kids. We had a coloring table set up near JoAn, and, I'd bought a huge collection (from eBay) of beanie babies. I printed out a poem and tied it to each beanie, and as we walked around to receive & speak to the guests, we handed out the beanies to the kids. They loved 'em! The poem was: "Close your eyes & make a wish, then ask the Bride & Groom to kiss. Be sure to keep your beanie with you, because wishes really DO come true!" A cute keepsake for the kids of the bunch, and we had several leftover which I am currently mailing out to guests from across the country who couldn't make the event. |
Just before I was painted, near the end... Before I got my butterfly mask, as JoAn was prepping, Carrie was helping me with my train. It was dragging behind me most of the day because I didn't make the bustle high enough! (amazingly enough, the dress is not dirty, even after following me around for 4+ hours at the church & Hofbrauhaus...) Carrie and I posed for several shots together... hugging shots, smiling shots, standing shots. This is my favorite of us together. I just gave her a big ol kiss right on the cheek! She was SUCH a blessing that day, the best Maid of Honor a Bride could ask for. She even helped me in the ladies room, and I learned how weird it is to attempt to pee while wearing a 3-layer, 4-ring hoop with a double-layer wedding gown on top! TG for MOH's!!! |
