Let's start with the head of the house My dad's name is Baba, which means "grandpa" in Azeri language... So if I have children one day, they'll call my dad Baba baba :))) He is a writer, has published 6 books and also writes lyrics for songs. I am proud to say that his songs are always number 1 hits and very much loved by everyone! He's famous in Azerbaijan although he could make tons more money should he be doing the same thing abroad. Dad and I get along well, although he thinks I am too rebellious and I think he is too conservative ;-) People always say I look like my dad and in our country it's a good sign for a daughter to look like her father and for a boy to look like his mother - they say's it's for good luck :) |
| | This is the Lady of the house I think I am a lot more like my mom when it comes to personality... She's really cool and very open minded for an Azeri woman ;-) Her name is Nazaket and she works at the National Academy of Sciences. She's got PhD in literature and also teaches Azeri language at a private school. Sometimes I think my mom is too kind to people, but then one can not be too kind, right? I think it's thanks to my mom's kindness to others that I always meet the nicest people during my travels who help me out big time! I love my mom! She's always been so patient with us and I don't think I could ever repay her for all that she's done for me... |
That's mi sista My sister Gunai... you could never find 2 sisters that are so different yet raised together with the same values! She's a year older than me and we absolutely don't look alike ;-) and she's totally opposite of me but still I love her very much! She is very caring but sometimes it seems too much :) We couldn't get along when we were kids but now we both realize that it's only gonna be me and her when the parents are gone... so we're cool :) She is a typical Azeri girl both by looks and personality and very traditional as well! Most of the times she doesn't approve of my life-style but she's to be married soon and hopefully then she'll leave me alone ;-) | | |
| | The best grandma in the world! My late granny Saphura! She was my mom's mom and I loved her to death. She's the one who looked after us because my mom had to work. I lived with her till I was 6 and couldn't wish for a better childhood. She had never received any education but knew more than a Harvard graduate. Life school is what we call it... I learned so much from her and could've learned so much more! My grandpa was one of the founding actors of the Azeri Drama Theater and was a wonderful person. Together they led a great life and raised 5 children, countless grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren! I have the fondest memories of my nene and miss her very much! |
IT HAPPENED!!!!!!!! MY SISTER GOT MARRIED :))) It was a great day for all of us and the wedding went very well - it had to ;-) I mean my sister had planned every little detail and spent all her nerves on it :) But everyone had a wonderful time and to this day I get comments from people about how much fun they had! In general, Azeri weddings are quite colorful and very different too... There is always tons of food and drinks on the table and we invite the most famous sinegrs of the country to come and sing at the party. Weddings start at around 6pm and finish after midnight. We had around 500 people at my sister's wedding and it was loads of fun :) | | | The whole family together |

| | I became an aunt to Saphura On Sept 7th, 2006 a little angel named Saphura (named after my late grandmother) decided to fly to Earth and become part of our family! My sister gave birth to her and ever since that moment this little angel has been the center of attention of the whole family :))) We just can't get enough of her! She's so sweet and happy and it's such a joy to be around her. I am her best babysitter ;-) I can feed her, change her diapers, entertain her and best of all, I get to smell her and kiss her! May god bless all the families with a baby like Saphura :))) |
The cutest baby on earth Children are so special! They bring so much joy to our lives, it's amazing :) I now can't imagine my life without this little angel. Well I call her "serche" - means "little bird" in Azerbaijani. I don't know where all this love came from, but my heart beats for this tiny creature and my love has no limits. I miss her if I don't see her for more than 2 days. I will walk for hours in the cold park under the rain so my serche can get some fresh air and take a little nap. I would give my life for her... | | | Saphura with her morning smile |
