| Hualamphong Station, Bangkok |
Hualamphong Station (or Hua Lamphong Station, depending on your spelling preferences) is the main long-distance railway station for Bangkok; it's located just north of Wat Traimit on the edge of Chinatown. If you have luggage, you'll want a taxi to get here, but otherwise the new Metro system has made the station much more accessible than in the past, especially from the Silom and Sukhumvit areas of town. The station and trains are run by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) - train timetables can be found at their website here: www.railway.co.th/English/Time_HTML.aspLots of useful information on train travel in Thailand can be found on the Seat 61 website here: www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm |

| | I took a wander around the inside of the station on my last trip to Bangkok: here's a picture of the ticket counters. Suprisingly, this part of the station is quite well air-conditioned, despite being a fairly big area. |

| | If you need to wait for your train there's a reasonably sized seating area just back from the ticket counters. |
