This is a view of Kawakawa Bay, which is on the East Coast of New Zealands North island, about an hours drive from central Auckland.

Its only a small wee place, but so pretty.

From Kawakawa Bay, you can either take the road to Thames ('gateway to the Coromandel'), or continue along for another five minutes until the road ends at Waiti Bay - a pretty sheltered, sandy cove, with great swimming, and where you can indulge in a spot of fishing off the rocks.....

Since I have lived in New Zealand, I have often remarked upon the beautiful skies to be seen here. The wondrous cloud formations, the variety of the colours.

But recently, I was sitting at home one evening, when I became aware of this incredible golden glow in the sky, almost as if there was a great fire. It was the sunset.
