Ventura is just "Beachy"

Summertime is not the best time to visit!

Lingering fog, no crowds
When you plan your visit to Ventura, be aware that the summer months can be quite cool and overcast. The best times to visit are the fall months: September through Novmeber and the Spring months: April through mid-May.
Typical Ventura Beach houses

Where the locals are

The local community of Pierpont Bay live on the "lanes" of Ventura. These lanes use to be pathways to the beach but as beach living became more popular the lanes became streets and points of entry to and from the houses on each lane. We lived on Kingston Lane for 9 years. I really like the area of Pierpont Bay.

Supposedly there was a tropical cyclone in 1932

The photo here depicts Pierpont Bay when they actually had a pier. Little did I know that a rare hurricane hit the coast in 1932 washing out the pier.

FEMA: "September 1932... a tropical cyclone tracked north northwestward across the Gulf of California. The remants generated rainfall of up to 7 inches in the mountains and deserts of southern California over a 4 day period ending on october 1st. Rainfall of 4.38 inches at Tehachapi in 7 hours on the 30th caused flash floods on Auga Caliente and Tehachapi creeks resulting in 15 deaths. This occurred during the El Niņo of 1932-33."

That was nothing compared to the 2005 rainy when we had 20 inches of rain over a two day period, triggering a mudslide that killed 10 people (3 were small children).

Hi Kat, How's my neighbor to the west doing? I was up looking around at the homes near the beach in your neck of the woods. Ate at Brophy Bros. above the Carousel. Larry

Hi Kat! I'm originally from Oxnard/Ventura, so your page brought back many memories for me. Thanks so much!

Not only has Frankys Place kept their old vegetarian and vegan items. They've won the "Best Vegetarian Items" in the Star Reader's Poll for the past 2 yrs. And they now have live music & dancing on weekends and a full bar with 2 Prime Rib dinners for $35.
