Paddock Cottage -- dating back to the 17th century |
Lyme Park, on the A6 south of Stockport and just north of Disley is an excellent park for walking, cycling or just enjoying the countryside with the family -- a medieval deer park, beautiful moorland and lots of woodland to explore.
Lyme Hall, a Tudor house converted into an Italianate palace in the early 18th century, is the centrepiece -- it was the home of the Legh family from 1346 until 1946 when it became a National Trust property.
Parts of the 1995 TV film 'Pride and Prejudice' were filmed here -- Lyme Hall appeared as 'Pemberley'.
