| Page Views: 1,681 Last Visit to Kent Ridge Park: July, 2005 I Live Here | from Singapore to Blue Hawaii... by sha_stallion - last update: Jul 28, 2005 |
The night of 22 July 2005 was no regular VT Meet. There were no VTers coming for the first time, almost everyone is by now familiar with almost all who came. It was a night to celebrate the youngest member (among the Singapore regulars), leonik, as he embarks to study again in distant Hawaii. Turned up altogether was a total of 17 VTers. In this pic, from left bottom row: joolssg, Shelly6622, the celebrated leonik, traps, smile_36, ZENDER. On second row from the left in semi-stoop position: jaka63, victorwkf and his girlfriend, ZENDER's wife and mignonne. And standing: cheapskate, myself sha_stallion and hubby Minanga, Daeyita, Rodan44, icyjo24, THLIN and trisanna. Famed for his love of the middle-eastern and Indian culture, it was no surprise for the star of the night to choose a place like Cafe Samar, a restaurant with a harem ambience at the corner of Baghdad Street in the area of the monumental Sultan Mosque. |
| most of us had tomato rice |
Our unanimous compliments also goes to victorwkf who brought his girlfriend for the very first time to a VT Meet! ; ) If not hard breads, almost everyone took tomato rice with meats. The meats were grilled, to a slightly burnt taste, so they weren't oily at all. I'd say with regards to the food, I was pretty surprised to see a smaller portion than when Cafe Samar first started. |
| me with the Saree Sisters! |
The best at keeping up the harem ambience were really Daeyita and trisanna who sportingly donned the saree!!! Way to go ladies!!! (by the way, don't you agree with me trisanna looked more like Lady Liberty? hehehehehhh) Anyway, these two saree ladies were the last to arrive. It really takes time to wrap a lady in saree! hehehhehehh I must not miss taking a pic with these two elegant ladies! |
Actually, smile_36 brought along her skimpy belly dance shawl too (aww! you should've seen that!) to keep up with the harem too, but became too stunned to do her thing when all our attention swarmed on her hehhehehhhh |
No, leonik wasn't in detention. It was jaka63's idea to make leonik sing before the cake. And sing he did the Japanese version of Auld Lang Syne. Way to go leonik! The two beautiful cakes were the hard work of Lady Liberty trisanna (maybe this was the real reason why she turned up late hehehehhh). The small one was chocolate and the large one mango. I greatly encouraged the ladies to eat that larger one, especially to those on fruit diet! hehehhehh Thanks to joolssg, we all then chorused to " For he's a jolly good fellow"! Study hard leonik! And don't be too distracted by the hula girls there!!! ; ) |
| on the plaza of gothic Parkview Square |
@ Parkview Square We stopped by Parkview Square on the way to Swissotel Stamford. Its plaza was gorgeous by night: its tall stone statues from Sun-Yat Sen to Churchill gleams with the night light, the streaming waterfalls soothing to the ears and the olympic torch-bearers completing the job to make one forget that this is in Singapore. Perhaps all this beauty convinced Austria and Mongolia to place their embasies here ; ) I'd say one thing is for sure, Parkview Square has our votes for being the most gothic-looking building in Singapore! |
| contented Rodan44 with the highest alcohol content |
@ CHIJMES So the story goes that we were actually headed for New Asia Bar in Swissotel Stamford. But our young VTers couldn't get past the bouncers because the minimum age for male here was 23. Strange, considering the legal drinking age in Singapore is 18. Whatever are they doing in New Asia Bar that requires men to be at youngest 23 anyway? You must know the minimum age for female here was 18. We eventually docked at CHIJMES, where majority had the margeurita ; ) and shared stories of CHIJMES unique history. Back to a time when there were exorcists... The day ended for us past 2am. Myself and Minanga had the pleasure of sending THLIN and leonik home and shared even more stories along the way. Well then, if you crave for more pics, do adjourn now to Minanga's version! ; ) hehehehhhh |
