Trans Siberian Railway 2003 PART II

Alexander Gardens

In the Alexander Gardens there are several fountains. On the picture you see one in front of a building called 'Riding School', which burned out in the year 2004.

On this picture you see another oddity; a kind of sundail combined with a globe. On that globe, Moscow is indicated with a little sculpture of the St. Basilicus Cathedral.

Also in Alexander Gardens; this gate, next to the former 'Riding School'. On the left you'll see the Kremlin.

Walking in the direction of the river called 'Moskva' (which means 'Moscow'), you have a good view at this church, the church of Christ the Saviour.

In Soviet times, in 1931, the Christ the Saviour was destroyed and it was pool. But when USSR disappeared, the Temple was built again in 1998.

Stalinistic Buildings

Here you see one of the 7 so-called Stalinistic Buildings, referring to Stalin, who admitted building them. One of them is a hotel, another gives place to a university and a third is used by the government.

Metro

The Moscow metrosystem is the most beautiful in the world. Each station is a palace on its own.

The picture gives you an idea of the way one can orientate in the metrostations.

An enormous escalator, lightened by old lanterns brings you back to streetlevel..
