Notre Dame, star of the Latin Quarter, was visited by many tourists in middle of July. Long lines were seen going to the tower. The gardens were a great place to sit and get some shade. |

| | I've been to the Place des Vosges under rainy skies so there were no one picnicking or sitting around on the benches. Middle of July the sun was blazing and it was just a relaxing time for the locals to sit on the grass. |
Beginning on 21st of July there is the annual Paris Plage phenomenon. It's totally crowded with locals pretending that the banks of the Seine are tropical beaches. | | |
| | The Luxembourg Gardens are beautiful yearround, but I find that they are especially beautiful during summertime. Locals go there for midday or any time of day relaxation. Seems as though the tourists have caught on to this custom too. |
A mid-morning stroll down the same Latin Qtr. street I visited in February but on a cold day: rue du Pot de Fer. The restos had outdoor tables ready for the lunchtime passersby. | | | Rue du Pot de Fer, Latin Quarter |

| | The Seine is absolutely beautiful in summertime. The photo was taken during a rest stop. I never tire of the views here. |

You seem to have put all your VT energy into it ;-) I agree about the Orsay, and your tip about the Memorial des Martyrs de La Deportation is beautifully expressed | breughel Sun Nov 30, 2008 12:35 UTC Excellent practical tips. |
