This is really just a practice run to see what happens when I add a personal album, so please ignore any rantings and ravings ....!
Not sure what happened here, I was trying to put a Dartmoor pic on this page, it's almost 2 am and I'll have a look tomorrow to see what I've done wrong.
Good ferry though.
As a quick share: Swansea to Cork is an excellent ferry trip, eat in the a-la-carte restaurant on the top deck, it is excellent value for money. On my only trip the waves were crashing against the windows as I ate - then you know that you are at sea!
I intend to put a Cork page together sometime in the future, time presses. If you want to visit Ireland start from Cork rather than Dublin.
As I said in my first line, please ignore these digressions.
All at sea :-)
I'm just about to try again with a Dartmoor pic, let's see...... |
| | I think I've worked it out - too many windows open. But this is still an experiment so please don't rate or chastise me for the rambling nature of what I am writing.
If anyone actually reads this:
I will have to start recounting my life as pre and post VT! I haven't written anything for more years than I care to (or even can) remember. I love this site, it is making me think, making me write, making me communicate and now I'm awaiting my camera.
Cheers all! John |
Views From Widecombe Tuesday 2nd August
Today the sun came out after a dismal overcast damp week, not that I really had a chance to do anything anyway especially now that we are working on "summer" time - 11-12 hours a day.
But today's a day off, the sun is shining and I'm starting to get to grips both with my new digital camera and with this site.
The Widecombe sign here is from the back road coming into the village from the North. If you expand it you'll see how beautifully framed it is by the natural hedgerow. We do hedgerows big-time here in Devon
| | This is the view that greeted me when I opened the curtains this morning. In fact this picture was taken from my window, the very window that is in front of me as I sit typing this.
The Dartmoor ponies, although they all have owners, are allowed to roam free over the moor and quite often drop into the village for a change of scenery, hence the grass on the village green never needs cut. |
And of course if the ponies don't keep the grass cut there's always the sheep!
These arrived an hour or so after the ponies had wandered off elsewhere, had a quick light breakfast then disappeared off down the road. | | | heading for pastures new. |
|
| | update This is actually new, but i'm just filling in space here - the above was my 1st experiment and I,m not going to change any of it - so here's the line _________________________________________________________
everything after this line can, may, or will be changed, or not!
same place, couple of weeks later - looks like the ponies and sheep were getting behind with the grass cutting! |
And overlooking us all is St Pancras - must ask my friend Steve, in Essex, who St Pancras was..........unless anyone else can help me out beforehand.
| | "sometimes it all falls apart......"
I've stolen this pic from somewhere - but she is so gorgeous and a voice unlike any - "and sometimes he's no nameless.........and I should have let him go...........on smiling.
Just read her memoirs - "Somebody To Love" - and at this precise moment in time listening to "The Best Of" - there's a remarkable track, which is not on any of the Airplane/Starship or her solo albums: "Do You Remember Me?"
aye, well that's me gettin maudlin again so time to draw another line
