The Bravery & Dead 60s show @ Culture Room, 7/18

by sunlovey - last update: Feb 9, 2006

"Dear God, two opening bands!?!... I am going to be so exhausted at work tomorrow..." (My initial thought when The Thieves came on stage at the Culture Room.) Nevertheless they put on a good show. The drummer was hilarious. Of all the bands I've ever seen NEVER has the drummer gotten up from his set and ran around banging on things with his drum sticks as he did. Very odd.
Dead 60s. How to describe.... groovy. with hints of reggae and ska, the kind of music a person would smoke joints to. (NOTE: I do not participate in such. Hate it. But I can see how it would be perfectly suitable to the tunes of the Dead 60s). Could these boys of looked anymore like preppy American college students that night? Final thoughts: They were good.
Tim and myself. No explanation necessary.
Dead 60s again. Crowd went absolutely insane for "Riot Radio".
Tim and I with two up and coming music-loving show junkies.
The Bravery... wow. Their set started out loud enough to give us all instant and permanent hearing damage. Once they settled into a decent volume, enabling the crowd to recognize what song they were actually performing I was thoroughly enraptured. Gotta love the layers of sound coming out of that band. Stop comparing them to The Killers people. They are so unlike The Killers.
Sam Endicott. If I wasn't married I'd stalk him.
Tyrant. God I love that song. Gave me incredible chills live.

Hope all is well! It's obvious you've been far more diligent about VT over tha past year than I have. Still, I have finally updated my pages for the recent trip to Roatan, Honduras I took.

Hahah.. Birthday wasn't "bliss", but I can't complain. I'm off to Prague soon too with her --> Hehehe... And I'm letting her do the restaurant planning 'cause she's good at it.

How was Aruba? Find any great meals? I'm off to Prague next and some of the spa towns in the Czech Republic, need to get going on the planning or we may be sleeping in the car...
