Spanish Railway pictures.

Blanes RENFE station, Costa Brava.

Roadside Exterior view, Blanes.
Blanes is a resort that lies between Malgrat de Mar and Lloret de Mar, north of Barcelona.

RENFE stands for Red Nacional de los Ferrocarrils Espanoles, (or Spanish state railways)
Trackside view, Alicante.

Alicante FGV station, Costa Blanca.

Alicante is the end of the line for the train going south and is adjacent to the sea front at the North end of town.

The tram continues on through the town to the harbour.
Departing Alicante.

Air conditioned diesel powered trains.

The FGV runs from Alicante via Benidorm to Denia.

I travelled from Alicante to Benidorm. A really enjoyable trip. Running through the sun parched countryside through villiage stations and over breath stopping viaducts
Arriving at Benidorm.

Benidorm FGV station.

This photograph is of a train arriving from Denia for Alicante. The air conditioned trains are quite comfortable.

Benidorm's station is nowhere near the sea front. It's on top of a hill and about a 15 minute walk from the coast. Remember. It's all UPHILL to get the station.

A fact that is not that readily apparent when ARRIVING at Benidorm by train when the walk to the sea is DOWNHILL!
The 'Limon Express'.

The 'Limon Express' at Benidorm.

The 'Limon Express' is a trip train that starts at Benidorm and runs to Denia and back, and has very little to do with lemons.

Fares must be booked in advance or through your hotel rep.

As can be seen from the photograph, the trai uses special carriages and is pulled by a diesel locomotive. Refreshments are available on board.
Close up of the cafe car.

'Limon Express' carriages.

This is a closer view of one of the carriages that form the 'Limon Express'.

This is the 'Cafe car' which caters for refreshments on the journey.
Passenger car.

'Limon Express' carriages.

This is a close up view of another of the carriages from the 'Limon Express'

This is one of the many passenger cars.
On display.

Covered goods wagon at Alicante.

This goods vehicle is a display feature at Alicante station and is from a by gone age.
