June 2005 Atlanta Geogia ***UNDER CONSTRUCTION***

by bryINpoland - last update: Jul 15, 2005

Mid June brought an unexpected homecoming to the United States, and to the city i've once called home, Atlanta.

Though at the bottom of my list when it comes to favorite places i once lived. Atlanta still holds a specail place in my heart, and if anyone knows how to have fun in ATL, its yours truely!

Same Old Tourist Traps

Its wouldnt be a visit to Atlanta without visiting some of its tourist traps. The biggest of those tourist traps is the "World of Coke Museum"

Chili Dog With Cheese, Please!

A half dozen chili dogs from the Varsity was a must while back in ATL.

But Taco Bell Came First

Nearly 5 months out of the states left me needing a quick fix of " 3 bean burritos, no onions, and double sour cream please" from the gods of mexican fast food, Taco Bell.

The Bad News

Thoough it was a trip filled with reunions, it also was a trip accompanied with a sad goodbye.

I purchased my Jeep Cherokee Lerado in Oct. of 1999 in Allentown Pennsylvania. She was my first car purchased with my own hard earned cash, and truely my first love.

With nearly 250,000 miles under the hood, she still purred like a kitten. She was loyal through 2 drives from coast to coast across the Untied states. She made the trip home across the sea to Hawaii in 2000, and then was shipped back to California in 2001 for the drive to Atanta.

She got me through and around nearly 2 dozen states. She survived the harse winters of Pennsylvania, the scorching heat of Las Vegas, and the salty air of Hawaii.

Upon my return to Atlanta, i learned that she had been impounded a few months earlier. My friend who had been watching over her, did not have the heart to tell me while i was over seas.

After spending nearly 3 months in the impound yard, she was found nearly defeated and heart broken. The amount to free her, and repair her borken heart was out of my reach, and it left me with a decision to make. I decided it was time to put her to sleep, and say good bye to my old loyal friend. I still struggle with the decison i made, but i had to except that her time had come.

The picture here is of our final goodbye.

RIP
Jeep 1999 - 2005. Survived by her best friend, Bryan Deutsch.

Missed Friends

Though Atlanta wasnt all i hoped it would be when i lived there. It did supply me 2 new best friends.

Sly and Margaret were more then happy to put me up on my visit to the states.

A New Addition

A trip to Atlanta wouldnt be complete without a visit to Liberty Tattoo, and my favorite tatto artist Damien.

Upon this visit we worked on adding another portion of work to my arm with a tattoo of Australia. The latest place i call home.

Loved your story about your Jeep. I had a 1985 Jeep Cherokee which I drove 1000s of miles in the US and then four years in the Philippines where we said our final goodbyes.
