| Page Views: 537 | How I want my bar in Spain to look. by Pauldelabar - last update: Dec 7, 2005 |
Looking from behind the bar counter. I cannot tell you the name of the bar as G would shoot me for advertising. But suffice it to say that the bar is in Nerja (Link), Costa del Sol, Spain.Current Bar status: - Still in the hands of the persons whom I shall purchase it from. Myself: - Preparing to depart. These are my drawings of how I want my bar in Nerja to look when I get over there perminantly and start redecorating.(Sorry that the resolution doesn't do these drawings the full justice).UPDATE 07 DEC 05
DONE 1. Sale of house in UK confirmed. 2. Checked that bar is still for sale. 3. Egaged Solicitor to do conveyancing work on house. 4. Checked that apartment in Spain is still available. 5. Started throwing out unwanted clutter at home. 6. Started packing things up for transfer to Spain. 7. Started collecting useful things to take to Spain that are not available there. 8. Van having full service for the long drive. (New diff fitted). 9. Complete on the house. (Signed).STILL TO DO 1. Finish packing all belongings up for the journey.
Estimated departure: Sailing Dover to Calais 09 Dec 2005! |
| | Looking East. The bar as is stands at the moment is all white. This is before I get to it with my brush and roller. What I hope to create is a truly British pub in Spain as the need requires one. There are many Irish nicely themed bars and bars with English names but the theme of these seems limited purely to the name and not the decor. Somewhere to relax and be comfortable while taking a drink is my aim. Pub games such as dominoes and crib to lessen the culture shock of Spain for visitors and ex patriots alike. |
| | Looking West. At present there are two double doors forming the entrance to what is only a small bar. My idea is to use one of these purely as an opening window (to lessen heat in summer) but to maximise interior space. Also there is quite a step to the doors that I intend to block whilst the others are level access from the street. So important when Spain is concentrating on making places wheelchair friendly. |
| | A sign in the window. This or a similar sign will be prominantly displayed in the front window of the bar to welcome any and all VT members who may be visiting at the time. |
| | Plan view. Maximum seating is about 25 comfortably. Heavy curtains will give that friendly feel to the bar and 'objects de art' hanging on the wall will give focal points. |
| | Afternoon Tea will be served. For those not wishing to partake of alcoholic beverages, or just for a break in the day; Afternoon Tea will be served at this bar.
Tea will come in a china pot and cups with saucers will be used and to complete the effect, cakes, biscuits and scones with cream will be available. All served on a tray to the table.
"Toda la agua es embotellada y pasada por la gerencia. or All water is bottled and passed by the management !". |
| | Night time. It is not envisiaged to do a lot of catering at the bar, just snacks and theme nights. Tapas will, however, be available for the clientelle to nibble on while slaking their thirst.
Curtains for the windows will help create that cosy feel.
All drawing on the computer is done using the 'Paint' program. |
| | Cocktails in the Evening. Cocktails will be available in the Evening as an alternative to all that beer and wine.
This is what I want the list to look like. Some cocktails may be added or subtracted from the list when I finally get the bar. Mant such ads. will adorn the walls in frames where the customers acn see what is offered. In many cases, the wording will be in English and Spanish.
Now why not take a look at Nerja (Link) where this bar is located. See if you can spot the one I'll be running. It's in my nightlife section! |
