Our Baby Bear!

by Tina-Perth - last update: Feb 28, 2007

Meeting Mian

"Ouch, that's my thumb!"
Here are some of the pictures of our baby girl - well, we don't own her, but we sponsor her.

Mian is around 4 months of age here and I think she would weigh about 6-8 kgs. She is incredibly energetic and playful. My description of baby bears would be a cross between a puppy and a monkey. They all have such different and strong personalities. This one is pure cheek!
I'm lapping this up!
.

Now, that's better! She's nuzzling and licking me. I have my head back because I had just been avoiding her mouth. She liked to suck my nose and chin, plus it was so gorgeous to feel her little kisses on my neck.
.

Oh, now she's just being too sweet. Look at that little face!
Just hangin'
.

I told you she had a bit of monkey in her!
.

She's crawled onto mama's lap to eat her watermelon.
.

Look at that fat little belly!
.

Mian loved this tyre. She grabbed her watermelon and climbed on in. She swung around in it, hung out of it and generally had a great time. Very amusing.
Vutti, Melanie and Chris
Our heartfelt thanks to these guys. Vutti (left) is the caretaker at the sanctuary. He works incredibly hard and does everything from preparing food to building enclosures by hand! There is no electricity at the sanctuary, so Vutti has to build without drills or saws. A hammer and chisel are his drilling tools.

Melanie is from the UK. She worked at the sanctuary several months ago and has returned to run it. She is a zoologist, so cares for the bears' physical, mental and developmental states. Her partner Chris has just arrived in Cambodia. He left the military to join her. Chris will train guards to protect the bears and also be a help and support to Melanie as the job is a huge task.

Thanks so much for being such great people you guys! Dedicated, committed people who make this world a better place.
