If you are going to have a long layover or get stuck in an airport, Schiphol should be your airport of choice.

I’ve been to international airports all over the world and this one beat the rest by far! You can kill hours and never bored. There is something for everyone. Have kids? No problem. Once they get tired of climbing on the local artwork there is free indoor playground.

Want a taste of culture? Check out the Museum, of course it’s FREE too.

Feeling lucky? How about visiting the Casino? Yes slots, tables and all.

Like to shop? We aren’t talking about a few little gift shops, the word mall would be a better description.

What types of stores you ask… Fine jewelry, costume jewelry, ladies clothing, men’s clothing, department store, book, flower, drug, luggage, cosmetic, music, grocery, book, toy, shoe, and tons of different types of gift shops.

If you have that urge to email home, there are several internet set ups sprinkled around. For folks who travel with their laptops, you can go wireless.

If you need a nap, and didn’t business/first class, they have great little nap chairs.

Feel a little hungry? You can’t walk more than a few feet with out finding a place. Everything from American fast food, to a health buffet and everything between is there.

If you find yourself staying in Amsterdam, leaving is simple! Customs is very efficient, and the lines go fast! As for transportation, they couldn’t make it any simpler if they tried!

Everything is in its place and there are plenty of signs to point you in the right direction,
rental cars, cabs, buses and shuttles. If your hotel offers shuttle service, there is a covered area with schedules of each shuttle posted.
