| Page Views: 668 | Who are we? And where are we going? by ant1606 - last update: Apr 21, 2006 |
Here we go. Most travels described in these pages were done together and a little background about us is something you may like. Both born in Turin, Italy, we call it home when business trips allow and yes, we like to travel together whenever possible. We both lived abroad before meeting in Turin, and such experience gave us the great chance to open our eyes and build the desire to see more of this world. At times we feel guilty for not dedicating more time to the exploration of our own country, which is in fact a fascinating combination of diverse cultures and languages itself. Rather than underestimating Italy's peculiar beauties, main shared opinion is that there's always time for seeing more of our land and I believe we're not alone in this world to think so. Another good reason for traveling is to see friends around the world. and make more along the way! What life would it be without friends? I'm member of the National Geographic Society since the 80's and every time I open a new issue I start dreaming about new places to visit!
This personal album is being put together for homesick moments while abroad....
- To be continued - |
| | I can't stay away from motorcycles. Been riding since 1973. My parents were both riders and it must be in my genes! In addition to the one we currently use, I have a collection of 7 more motorcycles. Wish I could have enough time off at one time, say at least six months in a row, to fulfil a dream. Riding all the way from Alaska to Patagonia. Maybe one day.... Meanwhile, we sometimes tour Europe on vacation. |
| | I'm lucky. Deb hasn't kicked me off yet after 14+ years together! We share a common passion for traveling but there's more. Adventure and outdoors activities are part of our life. Living at the foot of the Alps make hiking, rock climbing, cycling and skiing something usual, while we occasionally go sailing with friends. |
| | Sailing is something strange to us. No ice axes, no crampons here. Ropes and knots....yes, with a different name. Not a bad idea at all though. All I know about wind and weather is what I learned for paragliding practice, and I admit I'm not a born-sailor at all. But we have friends who can take us aboard to lend a helping hand. How about considering to set sail for distant shores one day? |
| Mountains, our lifetime passion |
| | Anyway, we're definitely not saying we're not satisfied with our home surroundings. We simply love our mountains and it's hard to do without. We are alpine people and our ancestors surely had a hard time surviving in a harsh environment. Whatever they moved was on their own shoulders across mountain passes, their cattle and orchards tended while praying for good weather and crop bounty. They made it for generations and here we are. Turin (Torino) was on the international scene as it hosted the XX 2006 Winter Olympic Games, and we hope this event will give a chance to our city for more international recognition. Feel free to contact us for hints about this northwestern region of Italy. |
