A walk along the Promenade.

by dabidc - last update: Jun 5, 2005

New Condos North of Downton.

New Sculptures.
4 years ago the land that houses some newly built condos was a small harbour and what had looked like a Saw mill or Lumber yard for receiving logs from along the Okanagan lake.

This sculpture shows a group of people lounging on the beach.
New Condos.

New Apartments or Condominiums.

These buildings are at the end of Waterfront park , a new development in the area, close to Knox Hill.
Grand Hotel green area.

Grand Hotel park and mini lake.

The walk or promenade continues along the beach side and passes clsoe to the Grand Hoel, a relatively new development.

The promenade continues past several reastaurants , a dock area for small boats on Lake Okanagen . Other places to see are the Fintry Queenanother ship that sailed the alkes in the area, a model of Ogopogo, the legendary monster in the Lake.
Kelowna sails.

Sculpture and the Fintry Queen.

Proceeding south along the Promenade one passes the Fintry Queen and then the Sails a sculpture to recognise the sailing regattas on the Lake.

Then we come to the City park, with the walks and playground areas, the Sports track and Bowling Green. Not to forget the Rose garden.
The beach area.

City park beach with floating bridge on left.

Lifting Bridge.

Part of Bridge and the Beach area.

Massive Willow tree.

Pick a willow tree for shade on a hot day.

Private beach and plane.

The end of the Promenade.

At this point the pathway returns to the streets for a few blocks, but the walk as shown can take a few hours especialy when taking photos or visiting some of the places an the way.

Always time for a coffee or meal and plenty of shade along the way.

Time also for a boat cruise or sail.

David, your Kelowna page was a joy to read and view. Too bad about that dreadful fire in 2003; thank goodness it is slowly returning. Orchard Golf Club restaurant sounds and looks splendid. Love all the flowers.
