Doge's Palace

by Sjalen - last update: Jun 5, 2005

Standing on the Bridge of Sighs, looking out towards the Lagoon, it is easy to see why the prisoners might have sighed. Otherwise, photography is forbidden INSIDE the palace and guards quite strict about it.
However, you can take pictures in the yard which has some great views such as this one including the San Marco basilica domes.
The Giants' Staircase cannot be walked by you as it once was by the rulers of Venice during Doge coronations. However, just standing below it is impressive.
From the loggia on the first floor, you have great photo opportunities.

You're so right! There's nothing like walking out of the train station in Venice and laying eyes on Venice, in all its glory!
