"Aloha Festival 2006" San Francisco Travelogue by SFHulaGIrl

San Francisco Travel Guide: 9,178 reviews and 19,540 photos

San Francisco holds an Aloha Festival annually, usually the first weekend of August, at the Parade Grounds in the Presidio. The event is FREE to attend! Islanders from Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa, Fiji, etc. are represented. Performances of hula dancing, Tahitian tamure, Filipino tinikling, as well as comedians, ukulele players, falsetto singers, and much more take place on two stages. There are plenty of vendors selling Polynesian crafts, and food vendors with laulau, lumpia, haupia, poi, poke and so forth. Pack a mat, LOW lawn chairs and a picnic and you're good to go!
