Taroudant valuable Info

by khattabi_eg - last update: Nov 7, 2007

Taroudant location

Taroudant is a one hour drive east of Agadir. The high Atlas mountains are just up north of the city and they can even be seen clearly from any house's top floor.

The map of Taroudant

Taroudant is small enough to explore on foot (if you like to walk) or bicycles. Most of the city is containted within the wall, and unlike other cities like Fes or Marrakech, Taroudant does not have a real "ville nouvelle".

The Wall

The whole city is surrounded by an old wall that is 7.5 kilometers long, has 130 towers, 19 bastions, and 5 gates. It was built in the beginning of the 16th century, mainly to protect the city from any possible attacks but today it remains as a precious historical monument.

Palais Salam hotel

That hotel was a former Pasha's geust house, and ranked now as one of the best traditional hotels in Morocco. It takes place withing the city's massive walls.

Couscous

The famouse Moroccan dish: Couscous. Contains different vegetables and lamb, other times chicken as well and sauce.(And yea, Couscous really takes time to be made! At least two hours).

The Biggest Couscous Dish Ever!

that's the biggest and the largest COUSCOUS dish in the world that was ever made ! it's in the Guiness book for the records now. The event took place in Agadir city.

Henna: The Moroccan Tattoo

Henna, called sometimes The Moroccan Tattoo. Usually put on the hands and feet, and once it's dry, you wash your hands or feet and you will have a very nice "Moroccan tattoo" that would last for quite a time before it vanishes, with a special smell as well.
