The Grand Palace This has to be one of the must see sights for any visitor to Bangkok. The workmanship is a great example of the Thais' artistic talents. Work is continually ongoing ot keep the buildings looking their best. |
Mystical creatures such as those pictured here protect the palace from evil spirits. |
Temple of the Reclining Buddha Close to the Grand Palace is Wat Pho. This is famous not just for the giant reclining bhudda (over 40 metres long) but as a place where you can learn the art of traditional Thai massage. The builings are heavily decorated with coloured cement and ceramics. |
The main Bhudda is so large and almost and it is almost impossible to get a good photo of it in its entirity. |
Another golden Buddha in Wat Pho |
The Marble Temple One of the other most visited temples in Bangkok is the Marble Temple. |
Wat Naphramera Buddha Ayuthaya This Buddha is in a temple that was used by the occupying Burmese troops and this is one of the main reasons it did not get damaged. This is regarded as one of the most beautiful Buddha images and I for one would not argue with that. |
Wat Changlom in Ayuthaya One of the most impressive sights in the ancient capital. |
