Ayuthaya Elephants If you do not feel like walking around the temples you can ride on a jumbo! Note that the yellow flower in the photo is "Golden Shower" a Thai national emblem. |
Ayuthaya Ruins Ayuthaya is the second capital of Thailand (the first was Sukothai and Bangkok is the third). Now there are many impressive ruins to explore. The gold coloured sheets on the statues are done as a mark of respect. |
Karon Beach after the tsunami Karon avoided major damage such as that inflicted on Kho Lak, but the giant waves did clean the beach. As I walked on the sound I could hear the pristine sand squeek beneath my feet. |
Thai Tigers At The Si Racha Tiger farm between Bangkok and Pattaya there are a large number of tigers. |
Wat Arun This is known as the Temple of Dawn in English and one of the main tourist sites in Bangkok that sits beside teh mighty Chao Phraya River (River Of Kings) |
Riverside dwelling The Chao Phraya river is the main water way in Thailand and many people live on its banks. Merchants travel from house to house selling their wares. |
Thai street traders A feature of Thai life are the street traders who cook and serve food from stalls by the road side. This one is in Pattaya, but could easily be in any Thai town. |
Peacocks at the Karon Hilton There are a number of peacocks roaming freely in the massive grounds of the Hilton Arcadia Hotel on Karon Beach. This one was pleased to see me ;-) |
