From the First Hands | War Memorial, Bayrachki, Zorinsk, Ukraine |
This is a short composition of my former student about her home village of Bayrachki that is a part of the town of Zorinsk. |
| | Home Village My home village is Bayrachki. It is a small village in the southwest of Luhansk region. It is the most beautiful one for me. I like both ancient huts and modern multi-storeyed houses in the center, both cozy green parks on the outskirts and numerous fields stretching outside the village. All people living there are familiar to me and are like relatives. |

| | Nighttime Meeting Bayrachki is located on the riverbank. Coming to the riverbank on summer nights I often with my friends until dawn. The stars and the full moon shine above us and we sit by the fire and gaze at the sky dreaming of something. The summer night is still short and the sun disc quickly paints the east deep red and the sun gradually lights up the forest, the glade and the river with warmth. |
| | Our Forest The forest is especially beautiful: sparse woods turn into thick magnificent forest that the locals call the thick one. The villagers are especially proud of the forest rocks and cliffs and the cave. The often pick spring flowers in the forest and have family barbeques on May Day and other summer holidays. |
| | Forest Beauty The forest is also rich in luxurious glades, lawns and hills that attract you with their untapped beauty, field plants and animals. You can see a small merry lively stream that flows a bit farther away and falls from the rock forming a stormy waterfall that freezes in winter and turns into a weird and nice ice “sculpture”. |
| | Hard-Working and Active The village is proud of its inhabitants – hard-working people. All villagers are busy with gardening in summer. Walking along the eight streets of Bayrachki you can see lots of fruit trees growing along them. They are especially beautiful in spring when they are in blossom and form a show-white arch above the streets. It is pleasant to walk along such a gallery and to feel proud of all that beauty created by hard-working hands. |

| | Our Motorway My home village is also the “owner” of the motorway that passes it and connects such giant cities as Debaltsevo and Alchevsk. Lots of vehicles gleam at the motorway every day. If you cross the motorway, you can get to the railway station to which I arrive coming home from Luhansk. |
| | My Homeland I feel my heart beat faster when I arrive to the station. I see the first little houses in bayrachki and think, “Yes, this is my homeland!” It is an incomparable feeling of happiness: I am back home, I am in Bayrachki! It is the truth of life. It was and it will be. What am I? A piece of it. Xenia B. |
