I decided to take a "mini" holiday this Christmas in Singapore itself. I stayed for a day at Holiday Inn Park View on Sunday 19th December 2004, which is situated right in Orchard Road, where all the "Christmas Actions" were.
This picture, taken at the carnival just right behind Orchard MRT Station, was of the largest outdoor Christmas tree in Singapore. |
| | I did not know about this when I planned my stay, but coincidentally, there was a rather massive Christmas float parade held on the same day. It was organised by the New Creation Chruch and they actually applied to closd the entire stretch of Orchard Road for it. The sheer number of people there were amazing and so was the atmosphere! |
This float, resembling a peace dove, was in my opinion the nicest float that day. In the background was Wisma Atria.
| | After the dove float, this heart shape inspired float was the last. |
Paragon Shopping Centre certainly had some of the most layered Christmas lighting fixtures around!
| | Although not part of the Christmas decoration, I thought Hermes' building looked very "Christmasy" at night too! |
This is the reception area of Holiday Inn Parkview. The European style interior and the large litted Christmas tree certainly set the mood well for Christmas! | | | Lobby of Holiday Inn Park View |

| | This was the room I stayed in. Obviously the hotel was named "Park View" for a reason and I think this picture made that reason obvious ;-) |
