Amazingly I'd not been to Prague for nearly five years. The city is spectacular, even more so when there is a fresh blanket of snow.

I took my girlfriend to Riga for Valentine's weekend - it might have been freezing but we had a wonderful time - I'll have to go back in summer, when the beach at Jurmala is sunny rather than snow covered and where the sea is not frozen!

The trip I nearly never made - due to my flight there being cancelled. However, I did have a very enjoyable day wandering through the city - even though it was a cold grey November day.

A mixture of business and pleasure - but October sun whatever! The mosaics certainly caught my attention as the fine feathered friend on the right proves!

Having been to Graz frequently when I lived in Judenburg, I didn't return for some 6 years. In the meantime, Graz had been European City of Culture (in 2003) and there had been an existing new wave of architecture springing up!

It was only after a trip to St Anton that I realised that I have not spent enough time in Austria's mountains. The view from the top of the Vallugabahn II - and above all the quietness was worth every cent.

I returned to Bled after a six year gap, with my parents in summer 2004. The place was more touristy but still had the magic that it had done in spring 1998.

Taken in the synagogue in Toledo this was a picture I was very happy with - Toledo was well worth the trip after a busy conference - plenty to see and some great rolling countryside on the roadtrip from Madrid.
