What's New In My Life????

by pabertra - last update: Jan 19, 2009

Mexico (Jan 2009)

Stunning San Carlos!
I love Mexico! Yes it has it's fair share of problems, but that couldn't deter me from journeying deep into its heartland. The trip started with a relaxing stay on the picture perfect shores of San Carlos, where expats abound. Next, I crossed into the state of Sinaloa to the beautiful colonial town of El Fuerte, which has quite possibly the coolest hotel on the face of the Earth! From there I embarked on a spectacular railway journey deep into the Copper Canyon (Mexico's equivalent to the Grand Canyon..it's actually bigger!) that for me ended in the state of Chihuahua, in the town of Barrancas. Here I met the Tarahumara Indian people and soaked up the marvelous vistas. I can only hope I'll get to return to Mexico soon it truly is an enchanting country and love using my espanol!
San Xavier del Bac Mission

Arizona (Jan 2009)

My first time to Tucson so lots on the agenda...thought I ought to survey the area by getting the full panoramic view from Mt. Lemmon, but my plans were interrupted when they closed the roads due to an impromptu blizzard! Made it there at the end of the trip though and WOW! What a view! Stopped in the artist's colony of Tubac and browsed around and then to the peaceful San Xavier del Bac Mission, where Tahono oOdham Indians bring their dogs to mass! Visited the Sonoran Desert Musuem (should be called a desert zoo) and even tried my hand at making jewelry at a local bead shop! Had a great meal at the J Bar where Zagat rated chef Chris Janos mixes traditional foods with a contemporary and southwestern flair...YUM! Oh yeah and the Westin La Paloma is gorgeous!
Cameron & George!

Baby Cameron is ONE!.... (Nov 2008)

Wow a year has come and gone and my adorable little nephew is now ONE! Besides toddling all over the place he's also developed a little temper...which is completely comical to watch. His best friend is his Curious George monkey that he kisses. Too cute! f*

Nursing School (Nov 2008)

Wrapping up the first semester of nursing school with my favorite classmate Liz. My life is pretty basic these days school, work, and one day a week to relax. Not enough time for travel :( but hopefully that will change when I graduate...I can always do travel nursing! f*
The new stadium

Grand Opening Lucas Oil Stadium (Aug 2008)

%Football season is here again! This year we have the debut of our new stadium, with some major upgrades like a retractable roof, huge panaromic windows, and in general a lot more space!
Friends/Family at the Fiesta

Summer Fiesta (Aug 2008)

Threw a summer fiesta to make the most of the end of the summer. I made all authentic Mexican hors'd ouevres (did I spell that right?!!) and ran 2 blenders simultaneously to make sure my guests had endless margaritas! 4 bottles of tequila & 4 cases of beer later the party came to a close

Daytrip Columbus, IN (May 2008)

Took a daytrip to Columbus, IN, which is a moderate sized town with an enormous collection of world class architecture. I'll be attendng school here soon, so I wanted to explore my new stomping grounds. The best thing we found was Simmons Winery, which sits out in the country...the area is beautifully landscaped and it is a nice place to grab a glass of wine and enjoy the countryside. Not far from here is a HUGE nursery with every type of plant and flower i could imagine...a gardener's dream!f*
Lakefront Brewery Tour

Weekend Trip: Milwaukee, WI ( May 2008)

My beau and I took off to Milwaukee for the weekend for fun and were surprised by how neat the city is! It has a strong Bavarian influence, from the architecture, to the multitude of breweries. We spent time exploring the city, visited Usinger's sausage factory and fell in love with their pretzel bread. Strolled the city trendy Third Ward district and grabbed dinner. Drank to our heart's content while touring Lakefront Brewery and then visited the Pabst mansion. FUN!

Hello from Sydney Australia Paige. I've seen just a little of Indiana when I drove from West Bend WI to Loogootee to visit Loogootee West Elementary School in late Nov 1997.
