When we first built our house we used to see deer often. Now we see them mainly when the hills brown out as they like our irrigated gardens. In fact a couple days after I took the picture above of the bunny, some deer ate all those beautiful flowers ! They also drink water from the gutters in the street in front of our house on occasion (continued below)

The deer pictured on the left was one of three I saw walking through our backyard(pictured above). They were panting because of the smoke filled air from a nearby fire in the canyon behind our house. This one turned and starred at me as I took this picture while putting out a bowl of water for them to drink.

Backyard Bobcat

Our backyard borders a San Diego County nature reserve so we sometimes get bobcats on our property.Here is a website about our backyard bobcats............

Bobcat watching bunnies on our lawn

This bobcat is checking out potential lunch,some bunnies on our lawn. It stood perfectly still in the same spot on our patio for a long time.So I was able to find my camera and take this picture out my kitchen window. I hope the bunnies escaped, I did not stay to find out !

Ghopher snake on our porch

Yuck ! I hate snakes but when I called the animal control guy he said "this is ghopher snake" and held it up cooing "what a good little snake ! " sounding like the American version of the Steve Erwin . He explained that they will eat small rodents, and of course ghophers ! So the snake was not taken away but instead 'set free' in our backyard to hunt down those pesky ghophers who tear up our garden and make holes everywhere.

We spot cayotes from a distance often, usually running across the street or through the canyon out back. This is pretty unique to snap a picture of one sitting down.On a cautionary note.... Coyotes can be dangereous especially with small children or pets.This brochure with valuable info. about Cayote encounters.

I see several bunnies on the lawn almost everyday.They come out at dusk to munch on the grass. But when I looked out my kitchen window and saw this one sitting on our seat wall , I just had to take this picture ....... SO CUTE !!!
