Tropical Wings Nature Centre |
| | There were so many of these beautiful blue morpho butterflies everywhere you turn. However, it is difficult to get a photo because the outside of their wings are a dull brown and as soon as they land, they tend to close up their wings immediately. I spent alot of time happily chasing these butterflies around until one obligingly opened up his wings for my photo (and to catch the warmth of the sun). |
| | It is easy to see how this butterfly gets its name. It has a distinctive marking on the outside of its wings that resemble the eye of an owl. |
| | Near the entrance to the butterfly sanctuary you can see two wooden cases with neat rows of harvested butterfly pupae awaiting their birth into beautiful butterflies! If you are lucky you will see one emerging from its cocoon as we did. |
