Thursday, the 17th of march 2005, I had the opportunity to visit the concert of Val Xalino in Göteborg (Sweden) at the Continental Club. A friend of mine, Jörgen Sundström, is playing in his band, therefore this was a must and a pleasure to listen to the concert.
Val Xalinos roots are on the Cabo Verde Islands in the Atlantic close to Africa off the coast of Mauritania (check it out in the Virtual Tourist pages' Africa section). As it was a former portuguese colony and it is located close to Africa, the music in creolic language is a perfect blend of different geographical influences. I had a great time at the concert! It was pure fun and I hope for more!!!!!
..seems that a trip to Cabo Verde is rising on my wish list... :)
