Our VT Friend & Guide in Yangon... | with zin at shwedagon pagoda... |
We were lucky to have known and met Zin who was to be our guide in Yangon... We came to know her thru VT (of course)... Previous to our visit, she had arranged the tours for us.. and give us advice on the itenerary... As she is also a registered guide, we are most happy to have her to show us around...
Zin is very well versed in all aspects of Myanmarese life and culture... and also the history of all the places that we visit... It was indeed a very successful short trip to this wonderful land of Myanmar... the Golden Land... as it promises...
Thank you, Zin, for all your time that you have spend with us... Danke from Nim, Meenoi and me...

| | March 4 & 5, 2005 Nim, Meenoi and I arrived in Yangon on March 4... and left on March 7... However, before our arrival, we have make arrangements to meet up with Zin and Ei for dinner... and it turned out that we have dinners with Zin and Ei on March 4 and 5...
On the evening of March 4, We met at the lobby of Central Hotel where we stayed... and took a taxi to the Lashiolay Shan Restaurant (as recommended by Zin)...a short distance away for the hotel...

Although this is the first time that we meet with Myanmarese vters, we chat like old friends... and exchange views on travelling... and at the same time ask a lot of questions on tourist places in Myanmar... The food was not spectacular and this is the first time that we tasted Shan style of cooking... Shan state is a province in eastern Myanmar, bordering Thailand, Laos and China...
On March 5, we decided to have Chinese food, after our day trip to Bago... This time, we went to the Junior Duck Restaurant, which is located at the Jetty along the Yangon River, opposite the famous Strand Hotel... After dinner, we took a look at the Strand Hotel...before calling it a night as we were very tired after a long road trip to/from Bago... |
| | March 6, 2005 After a spell of "foreign" food, we decided to go Thai for the sake of Meenoi, who by now yearns for Thai food... so for lunch, we decide to have it at Sabai Sabai Thai Restaurant... The Thai food was quite authentic and we had the usual tomyam and other Thai specialities... It was a nice restaurant with a good ambience... Meenoi was most pleased with the treat... hehehe... |
| | For dinner, we ended up in one of Meenoi's and mine favourite cafe... the Black Canyon Coffee Cafe... Newly opened in Yangon, the cafe serves food as it was in the Bangkok outlet... We ordered our favourite dishes and Zin took our recommendation for her meal... it was a nice dinner and we finish it off with coffee (what else)...
As it was our final night in Yangon, we sat and talk about our trip again over coffee and talk of our future plans to visit Myanmar, possibly up-country to Bagan and Mandalay... We will certainly meet again... Auf Wiedersehen, Zin... All the Best... |
