Visit Chadwick Lakes !

by Elly01 - last update: Feb 20, 2007

Chadwick Lakes

Water keeps falling down !
These are situated closeby to Rabat ! These are like large dams that get filled up with rain water and when one of the dams over flow the water spills out into the other dam and then into a stream. Many people go there in Winter especially on Sunny days. As you can see it rains alot in Malta - flooding everything from roads, crops and fields.

People go to catch frogs here (at least that's what we use to do as kids) now catching frogs is illegal because so many people catch them that they were finishing.

Birds

Birds in Malta are becoming rare too because unfortunitly in Malta hunters shoot every bird they see under their eyes !!! It's not the first time we will be walking in the countryside and we hear close by hunters shooting. Infact, when this happens try not to stay too close as it can be dangerous.

Robin

Robins in Malta are caught mostly to act as a trap for other birds. It's not the first time that we will be walking in the countryside and you see small cages with robins inside to attract other birds. The birds come close and are immediately shot or caught to be stuffed and preserved. I think it is a very cruel thing to do ! Robins are protected as well !!

Owl

Owls are not very common in Malta. As I said they are much hunted by hunters and since we don;t have much greenery or mountains I don't think they have much place to hide.
